Following the decision of the FIG Executive Committee of 19 July 2023 concerning the participation of athletes with Russian and Belarusian sporting nationality in FIG-sanctioned events from 01.01.2024 onward, European Gymnastics would like to inform that the matter will be placed on the agenda of the European Gymnastics General Assembly, to be held on 1 and 2 December 2023 in Sofia (BUL).
The topic will concern the participation of athletes and support personnel of the Russian Gymnastics Federation and the Belarus Gymnastics Association in European Gymnastics events and activities as also the pursuing of their functions for European Gymnastics authorities from these two federations.
This planning follows the preceding European Gymnastics General Assembly of 2 and 3 December 2022 in Albufeira (POR) where the Executive Committee decision of March 4th, 2022 was ratified that no athletes, officials and judges from the Russian Gymnastics Federation and the Belarus Gymnastics Association can participate in any European Gymnastics events and European Gymnastics authorities from Russia and Belarus cannot pursue their functions until further notice.
European Gymnastics continues to condemn the invasion of Ukraine by Russia aided by Belarus and stands in solidarity with Ukraine.
