Statement on the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria

Here at European Gymnastics, we are deeply moved by the disastrous news we receive from Türkiye and Syria, following the earthquakes that hit the region on Monday 6 February.

The toll of human life the earthquakes have claimed is dreadful and our thoughts are with the people and the families affected. In these difficult times, European Gymnastics is offering its deepest sympathy, compassion and support to the victims and wishes everyone the necessary strength and courage to face this tragedy.

We already received a couple of questions regarding the upcoming European Championships in Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, due to take place in Antalya (TUR) from 11 to 16 April 2023. The preparations are going ahead as planned, in cooperation and coordination with the Turkish Gymnastics Federation. We continue to work together to monitor the situation. If anything changes, this will be communicated.

At this very moment though, focus is on helping the victims of this tragedy.
