At the conclusion of the 13th TeamGym European Championships in Guimaraes (POR), Kamran Ramazanov, CEO of our global partner SmartScoring presented the SmartScoring Shooting star award to Iceland’s Audur Helga Halldorsdottir and Sweden’s Patrik Gustafsson.
Started in 2018, this award aims to put a gymnast with an exceptional story in the spotlight, someone who is an inspiration for the future generation of gymnasts and the general public alike.
Audur Helga Halldorsdottir (ISL) truly lives the life of multiple people at the same time. Not only is she in the national team in gymnastics, she plays football, even participating in selection events for the national team. The 16-year-old has also participated in -and won- competitions in javelin. And she plays the flute. All in combination with her schoolwork, she’s such a talent and an inspiration for her peers.
Patrik Gustafsson represented Sweden in the national team before but struggled with lost skill syndrome in the last 2 – 3 years. The 26-year-old suddenly just couldn't do the somersaults and movements he used to. He had to learn them all again from the start. Now he is back where he once was and even better. Patrik shows us all that everything is possible, if you just want it hard enough, if you never give up. Patrik’s way back is an inspiration to all gymnasts, not only the once facing the same problem, but he is a great inspiration to all our younger gymnasts: he is always happy and positive towards the younger gymnasts no matter how his own practise is going.
