After the team final of the 33rd European Championships in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, held in Mersin (TUR), Kamran Ramazanov, CEO of our global partner SmartScoring presented the SmartScoring Shooting star award to Croatia’s Ana Derek.
Started in 2018, this award aims to put a gymnast with an exceptional story in the spotlight, someone who is an inspiration for the future generation of gymnasts and the general public alike.
The 22-year-old from Split competed in the 2016 Olympic Games and has already secured her spot at the Tokyo Games. She has won several World Cup medals, including the gold on floor. Known for her perseverance, Derek stands out because of her style and elegance as well. Her motto? Believe in yourself. Hard work will pay off in the end.
Ana believes in the importance of education in life and she's been an excellent student of the University of Teacher Education. Although always busy with gymnastics and studying, her little of remaining free time she loves to spend with her large family, which she adores and friends who follow and support her in her sports life. Her lifetime coaches Mrs Magda Ilić and Mr Miroslav Končarević contributed in creating Ana's warm and cordial personality and character by which she became a role model for the younger generations of girls in the club and in the national team.
In her bright smile, Ana carries all over the world the sun and the sea of her hometown Split from the Croatian side of the Adriatic Sea.
