Three years after the previous European Championships in Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline, Europe’s best gymnasts finally managed to travel again, to Sochi (RUS) to battle for continental glory.
The first medals were awarded today at Sochi’s Iceberg Palace in the junior trampoline team finals.
The Russian girls’ team, featuring Anzhela Bladtceva, Maria Mikhailova, Natalia Blokhina and Veronika Shmeleva, kept their head cool under pressure to outperform their Belarussian competitors while Germany edged Turkey for the bronze medal.
The Russian boys suffered costly mistakes, leaving the door wide open for an excellent Belarussian team. Andrei Builou, Stanislau Yaskevich, Ivan Melnikau and Daniil Pshanko posted a fabulous score of 173.090, finishing more than 10 points ahead of Portugal, with Germany clinching the bronze.
