This evening, the 16 men qualified in Trampoline competed in their qualification rounds at the Bercy Arena. The top eight advanced to the final, where scoring started from zero again.
Defending Olympic Champion Ivan Litvinovich (AIN) soared like an eagle, spending the most time in the air (Time of Flight) of all finalists, as he twisted and somersaulted with great precision. The 23-year-old accumulated 63.090 points, clinching his second consecutive Olympic title, becoming the first male to do so in history:
I was quite anxious and nervous. My coach helped me a lot. I was also listening to music before my routines. I felt I as fully prepared to show my best today. I will continue to work even more and to be able to participate in the next Olympic Games, and to be in good shape, good form and to be competitive there.
After earning no medals in the women’s competition, China rebounded onto the podium with not one but two gymnasts: Wang Zisai grabbed silver courtesy of the highest execution score of the final, while Yan Langyu stepped onto the bronze medal podium.
Zak Perzamanos performed the most difficult routine of the evening, finishing fourth while claiming Great Britain’s best result ever in the men’s competition. Portugal’s Gabriel Albuquerque claimed fifth position ahead of home crowd favourite Pierre Gouzou.
