What a day for Ilia Kovtun! After winning gold with the team and in the all-around, the talented Ukrainian competed in all 6 apparatus finals, collecting three more European titles (pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars) and a silver on vault. His parallel bars routine truly was in a league of its own, scoring 14.600, almost a point higher that silver medallist Mykyta Melnykov! Also on pommel horse the difference with second place was close to a point. His compatriots shone bright too: silver for Ivan Sevruk on floor, silver on rings and bronze on high bar for Volodymyr Kostiuk.
Gytis Chasazyvoras’ victory on floor was welcomed with pure delight by the Lithuanian delegation. In the next final, he added a silver on pommel horse tied with Israel’s Eyal Indig. Romanian Gabriel Burtanete, the 2019 junior World Champion on vault, now claimed the European title on that event. Hungary continued their success with Krisztian Balasz, bronze at junior Worlds last year, upgrading to gold in Mersin while teammate Botond Molnar clinched the bronze on floor.
The Turkish delegation celebrated 4 medals, two each for Bora Tarhan (bronze on rings and vault) and Mert Efe Kilicer (bronze on parallel bars and silver on high bar).
Congratulations to the European junior medallists!
