Giulia Perotti shines in junior finals at #Rimini2024

The junior women took to the stage one last time at the Fiera di Rimini as they fought for apparatus glory.

Host nation Italy started off strong on vault. Benedetta Gava and Emma Puato set the standard with well executed vaults to go 1 – 2. Joining them on the podium, the freshly crowned junior All-Around and Team Champion Elena Colas earned another medal, bronze this time, for France.

Stand-outs Colas and Giulia Perotti, the number one and two of the all-around, displayed a masterclass on bars. With their difficulty miles ahead of the rest of the field, the girls went head-to-head. Both scored 13.866 and shared the gold medal, a fitting reward for the two gymnasts who scored more than a point ahead of their nearest competitors. The bronze medal was shared as well, between France’s Lola Chassat and Belgium’s Sien Ghekiere. In the junior finals, ties are not broken, unlike in senior finals.

On beam, Maiana Prat (FRA) cruised to victory, controlling her nerves in a dazzling, confident display. Germany earned its first junior medal of the week, a silver medal for the talented Madita Mayr who noted the highest execution score in this final. Bronze went to Perotti, even with a fall, courtesy of her high difficulty value.

The Italian rising star ended the afternoon with another gold medal, this time for a superb floor routine which was rewarded with a 8.300 execution score, for a grand total of 13.400. Teammate Emma Fioravanti’s impressive tumbling passes earned her the respect of the crowd, and a silver medal of her own. France’s Perla Denechere secured the bronze medal ahead of Colas.
