France’s Anthony Mansard crowned junior European All-Around Champion

The Fiera di Rimini welcomed the junior men for the last time this week. This time for the all-important All-Around Final.

The 24 top all-arounders from qualification, with a maximum of 2 per country, competed on their six apparatuses: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.

The two top qualifiers, France’s Anthony Mansard and Italy’s Tommaso Brugnami, went head-to -head throughout the final, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats in anticipation. Brugnami started off strongest on floor, the apparatus that saw him take the gold yesterday, while the roles were reversed on pommel horse. Then Brugnami was better again on rings, the second event he won yesterday, and on vault. With 2 rotations to go, the 17-year-old Italian edged his French rival by 3 tenths of a point. Still to come though were parallel bars and horizontal bar. Mansard won silver and gold respectively on these events, so he definitely had the possibility to make up those tenths. With 8 tenths advantage in difficulty score on parallel bars, and 6 tenths on horizontal bar, Mansard cruised to this goal, posting the highest scores of the final on these apparatuses. With a magnificent total score of 81.499, Mansard is the new junior European all-around Champion! Brugnami clinches the silver. We hope we’ll see many more exciting battles like this one today between these rising stars!

Two gymnasts contended for the bronze: Gabriel Langton (GBR) and Jonas Eder (GER). Langton’s best performances came on rings and parallel bars while Eder aced his pommel horse and parallel bars. Both finished the competition on floor. Langton scored 13.233, compared to 12.966 for Eder. Bronze for Langton, the unfortunate fourth position for Eder.

Austria’s Alfred Schwaiger, Bulgaria’s David Ivanov, Türkiye’s Alperen Ege Avci and Spain’s Alvaro Giraldez round out the top 8.

What a fabulous end to an exciting week in Rimini for these junior men!
