The competition continued with the girls’ qualifications.
Competition I allows the gymnasts to battle out at the same time who gets a pass to the all-round competition and the apparatus finals. 24 gymnasts will continue to the finals of the all-round competition and 8 gymnasts per apparatus (2 max per NF) will have the possibility to battle out the apparatus finals on Saturday and Sunday.
The level of the Romanians was excellent today, a little less at the uneven bars though; L. A. Iordache and D. L. Bulimar deservedly take the lead of the all-around qualification.
The Russians were eagerly awaited but they have not managed yet to fulfil the expectations of their home crowd. A. Mostafina messed up her beam routine with two falls but still managed to secure the 4th rank of the all-around qualification and we will have the delight to see her again in the uneven bars and floor finals.
Good competition for the British gymnasts R. Harrold and C. Fellows who rank 6th and 14th respectively. Also the Spanish did well ending up in 5th and 11th position.
Of course there were also the Italians with the young Elisa Meneghini, still junior at last year’s ECh in Brussels who reaches the 7th provisional position thus qualifying for the final of the all-around competition as well as the beam final.
2 ranks behind, her teammate Giorgia Campana also secured a place in the all-around final and at the uneven bars.
We will also see Carlotta FERLITO again in the beam and floor finals.
