D. Belyavskiy and A. Mustafina, European champions. Russia well represented !
The 24 qualified male gymnasts represent 14 countries: GBR (2), RUS (2), UKR (2), ESP (2), FRA (2), ITA (2), BLR (2), BEL (2), HUN (2), ARM (2), ROU, TUR, GER, SUI.
The all-around final for the men began with the top qualifier M. Whitlock/GBR followed by O. Verniaiev/UKR and D. Belyavskiy/RUS.
Whitlock and Belyavskiy started on vault and Verniaiev on rings.
After 2 rotations, the Russian gymnast Belyavskiy was in first position followed by Verniaiev, Whitlock, F. Gonzalez/ESP, A. Davtyan/ARM and D. Purvis/GBR.
At the end of the third rotation, Verniaiev ahead of Belyavskiy, O. Stepko/UKR, Whitlock, Gonzalez, Purvis and N. Ignatyev/RUS. 2 more rotations and the rankings can still change!
After 5 rotations: Belyavskiy ahead of Whitlock, Verniaiev, Stepko, Gonzalez, Purvis and Ignatyev. And the last rotation didn’t change anything int he top rankings… Supported by loud cheers of the audience, the Russian won the competition with a score of 89.799! and takes the title of the new European all-around champion succeeding Philipp Boy/GER.
Whitlock (GBR) wins silver with 89.106 and Verniaiev bronze with 88.398.
Stepko, Purvis, Gonzalez, Toba and Davtyan round up the top 8 ranking.

Just a reminder: L. A. Iordache/ROU and D. L. Bulimar/ROU led the qualification ahead of A. Grishina/RUS and A. Mustafina/RUS was 4th.
After rotation 1, Iordache, with her routine on beam took the lead followed by Bulimar, Mustafina, N. Van Klaveren/NED, E. Menghini/ITA and E. Haemmerle/AUT.
After 2 rotations, the Romanian girl continues to lead the competition. G. Steingruber/SUI finished second with her great vault followed by Mustafina, Grishina, Bulimar and R. Harrold/GBR.
At the end of the third rotation, Iordache leads 0.7 ahead of Mustafina. Then we found Grishina, Bulimar, Steingruber and Meneghini: Iordache was close to become the new European champion, but Mustafina realized a superb routine on bars and obtained the score of 15.133 (6.3). She wins the title with 59.032!
Iordache wins silver with 58.432 and the bronze goes to Grishina with 57.932.
Bulimar, Steingruber, R. Popa Nedelcu/ESP, Meneghini and Harrold round up the top 8 ranking.
The competition continues today with the WAG and MAG apparatus finals.
